Action Area: Cosp Yew Forest
SAC ES140006. Serres de Cardó – El Boix
The Cosp yew grove is owned by the Rasquera Municipality and belongs to the public forest Comuns de Rasquera. It covers about 5.8 ha and is probably the oldest forest in Catalonia, with trees several hundred years old. Isolated trees grow in different parts of the mountain range, some of them being monumental trees, “Lo Teix Pare” in particular. Close to the ancient resort of Cardó, three stands with a high density of yew trees are found, totaling about 4.8 ha, the densest of which is known locally as Los Teixets.
Most of the actions undertaken by Life TAXUS, detailed in the Actions section, have been carried out.
